Ceremony

As personal and unique as you are

Interfaith Ministers are trained to create ceremonies and services for people of any faith or none. So whatever your background or needs, I can craft a ceremony to support you to celebrate or mourn major life-changes your way

If you are looking for something a little different or a way to include everyone, I will listen to your ideas and needs and weave a ceremony that fits.

Marriage Ceremonies

Beautiful ceremonies created with you, your partner, and your families at the centre.

Whether you are looking for a blessing ceremony or a more traditional wedding or want to celebrate the depth of your love for each other in another way entirely, I can help create something that is a real reflection of your relationship.

If you can book your wedding ceremony in enough advance, I can organise my calendar around you.

Funerals &
Celebration of Life Ceremonies

A ‘good’ funeral can be a true support in the difficult days of loss. I will listen carefully to your needs and learn as much as I can about your loved one so that I can create the goodbye that feels right to you, your family and friends.

The celebrant was outstanding. She was dignified, eloquent and conducted the service with great empathy and compassion.

Unfortunately, I am unable to offer funeral ceremonies on my scheduled teaching days or when I am leading retreat.

Milestone Ceremonies

A new baby, a big change in your situation, a new phase of your life or an important decision sometimes calls for a celebration or a special space to help you process what is happening.

Ceremony and ritual has long been used to support us to navigate all the experiences of being human. Whatever ‘it’ is – I can create a public ceremony or a private ceremonial space to support you make the most of all that your life is offering you.

How it Works

We will meet for an initial discussion (this can be in person or online depending on where you live) so that we can get a feel for whether or not we can work well together. Once we have decided to go ahead, then we will meet again for a couple of hours to talk in more detail and so that I can gather all your ideas together with all the information that I need to create the right ceremony for you.

I will then create a draft ceremony which I will share with you for feedback, changes and adjustments. This process continues until you are happy with the ceremony. In the case of a wedding, the process may take many months. With funerals, the process will be much quicker. I will ask you to share with me stories and words from wider friends and family as I can include these in the ceremony so that its a true reflection of your loved one.

If at all possible, I will hope to visit the venue before the ceremony and if necessary, make connections with other professionals who are supporting your ceremony. If there are others contributing to the ceremony on the day – offering readings etc – then I will make contact with them to make sure that they are secure in their part of the ceremony. In the case of a wedding, I am happy to offer a rehearsal if that is supportive for you.

I will stay in touch in the run up to your ceremony so that you feel supported as you step into the day. At additional cost, I can offer support through my normal practice if that is something that you would like to deepen your experience of the ceremony

Cost Etc.

Weddings and Funerals start at £450. If a great deal of travel is involved or I am required to create more than one ceremony (i.e. a Celebration Ceremony plus an Ash Scattering Ceremony) then the cost may rise. I will be clear with you about this every step of the way so that you know what you are spending. Major ceremonies of this nature take about 6 hours to create and then several hours of revision which is reflected in the price.

Milestone Ceremonies start at £95 for small very personal ceremonies. The size and scale of the ceremony and the amount of writing time it requires determines the cost. When you have shared with me what you would like your ceremony to entail, I will be able to say exactly how much that would be. If you are asking for something a similar length and scale as a wedding or funeral then £450 is your rough guide.
